Following Ipswich’s high scoring victory over Rockhampton in Round 3, we caught up with Ipswich Force Captain, James Legan to hear his take on this weekend’s matchup against Logan and the team’s plans for the remainder of the season.
Another great win for the team scoring a QBL season high with 114 points. What do you hold responsible for an offence which seems to be rolling right now?
Playing together as a team and people hitting open shots. We are clicking on all cylinders and people are confident, leading to us playing as one, as a unit.
Yourself and Kyle Harvey have both had great starts to the season. What does Kyle bring to the team and what is it like to play alongside him?
Kyle is a tough guard. He is a three-four who has been shooting the basketball really well this year, from the three and the two. He can put the ball on the ground and go coast-to-coast. It’s good to have somebody out there alongside which takes the scoring pressure off me as well as my other teammates.
This week you come up against Logan, who will be motivated to record their first win of the season. Who are some key Thunder players you will need to stop?
Michael Cedar, he’s an ex-NBL player. He’s a good guard who can really do everything, shoot the basketball, pass and get his teammates involved.
Who is an up and coming player you expect to have a big impact this season for the Force?
There’s probably two, Mitch Poulain and Alec Godinet. They have both been putting in work this preseason and you can see that transferring to the games. It’s good to see them getting some minutes here and there in QBL games and I think one of the two, if not both of them, will have a breakout season.
