In a monumental day for Mackay Basketball, the association is pleased to announce that it has secured a significant partnership with McDonald’s Restaurants in Mackay.
McDonald’s will back the Meteors in the Queensland Basketball League as the team’s exclusive naming rights sponsor for an eighth straight campaign, while also agreeing to terms as the new naming rights partner of the Mackay Multi-Sports Stadium.
Mackay’s premium sports venue and home of Basketball, will now be named as the McDonald’s Mackay stadium, under a two-year agreement.
Departing Mackay Basketball manager Joel Khalu said the new partnership with McDonald’s was a massive milestone for the club.
“McDonald’s Restaurants in Mackay are a locally owned and operated family business and we are thrilled to be able to grow our partnership to now include both the Meteors and our stadium,” Khalu said.
“We have one of the best facilities in the state, that caters for a wide range of different sports and events and it’s brilliant that that we can now associate our venue with positive corporate recognition.”
“This partnership also means we can continue to put a highly talented McDonald’s Meteors side on the floor that can compete for further QBL championships.”
The first event in the newly named McDonald’s Mackay Stadium will be held tomorrow night, with the official re-opening of the renovated Crater.
“The timing for this announcement is perfect, especially with tomorrow night’s official opening festivities and McDonald’s Meteors All-Star Game,” Khalu added.
The free event gets underway at 6pm with the McDonald’s Meteors All-Star game tipping off at 7:15pm.
