Fans of Gladstone’s only State-level sporting team, McDonald’s Port City Power, are being given the chance to win $5000 cash in a halfcourt free-throw competition at this Saturday’s game against rivals Mackay. The “Maccas $5000 Power Shot” is an initiative of local McDonald’s franchisees Tony Ward and Nathan Patrick.
“McDonald’s Port City Power is Gladstone’s only state-level competitor, and we are immensely proud of both the Men’s and Women’s teams” said Mr Ward. “We wanted to bring some US-style excitement and hype to the home games, and give the fans even more reasons to come along and be excited”
Fans at the game who make a $5 donation to Ronald McDonald House can receive an entry ticket to be eligible for the Maccas $5000 Power Shot. One lucky person will have their name drawn at Quarter-time, and later they will get to take a shot at goal from the halfway line to win $5000. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age.
“Ronald McDonald Houses give unbelievable assistance to regional families with sick kids. We wanted to find a way to help raise some funds for the charity, and also bring something truly exciting to Gladstone Basketball” said Mr Patrick. “To our knowledge no other team in the QBL has this kind of event at their games”
“The Power teams are both looking extremely competitive this season” said Tony Ward. “Our coaches Blair Smith and Ray Cooper have assembled some exciting players, with a great mix of experience and youth, to really take it to the opposition. Sports lovers should come along for a great family night out”
The Maccas $5000 Power Shot will be run at all Power home games this season.
