As the Southern Districts Spartans continue preparations to defend their Women’s team championship and put a revamped Men’s team roster on the floor to challenge for the 2018 QBL title, the release of the 2018 QBL Official Draw has enabled club supporters and the Spartans family to already circle a number of must watch games in the calendar.
The Spartans will open the season on Saturday 28 April with a road game against long-time Association rival South West Metro before a key match-up against Gold Coast on Saturday 5th May being the first home game where the team can showcase its title credentials in front of the Spartans faithful.
Four straight home games in four weeks in the middle of the season will see fierce rivals Mackay, Brisbane
Capitals and Rockhampton all make the trip to Southern Districts to try and tackle the might of the Spartans. With decades of history between these programs, these will be games that are not to be missed!
A quirk of the schedule will see the Spartans have a rare home-home weekend double on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July with Toowoomba and divisional rival Sunshine Coast Phoenix both coming to town in the same weekend for a pair of games that will likely decide the playoff aspirations of the respective teams, bringing finals intensity to the Rowland Cowan Stadium early this year.
The Spartans season will conclude with a game against the leagues newest team North Gold Coast on Sunday 5 August where the Spartans will look to end the season in style and head to the playoffs with home court advantage for both our Men’s and Women’s teams.
The complete QBL draw is now available on our website, with the club expecting to announce several key player signings and ticketing and reservations processes shortly.
