BRUCE RETURNS FOR MCDONALD’S METEORS

The McDonald’s Meteors are proud to announce that star point guard Shaun Bruce has signed to play for the McDonald’s Meteors in the 2017 QBL season.  In a massive coup for the club, the Meteors have beaten a number of other clubs to gain Shaun’s signature for the season.  Shaun has just completed the NBL season with the Brisbane Bullets and is extremely keen to get back to Mackay to guide the McDonald’s Meteors through the 2017 season.

After spending 2016 with the Meteors, Bruce is extremely excited to be joining the group again in 2017. “ The way we finished last year in the quarter finals was not a true indication of the team’s quality last year and when asked to come back to Mackay I jumped at the chance to try and bring a title back to Mackay in 2017”, Bruce said.  “ I believe we have a great core group of players in Mackay and with the additions that we have made in the off season, I think the team can do big things in 2017.

Business Development Manager, Wade Rebetzke said,  “  Shaun was a high priority for the club to re-sign at the point guard position and we are extremely happy that Shaun has signed to be a McDonald’s Meteor in 2017.”  He is a player with great talent, great leadership skills and more importantly, is a quality individual that wants to succeed whenever he steps on the floor.  His work ethic sets a great example for all of our junior players and I’m sure he will help those players throughout the 2017 season.

McDonald’s Meteors Head Coach, Cameron Tragardh couldn’t be happier with Bruce’s signature and believes we will see big things from his former Cairns Taipans teammate in 2017. “ I have seen Shaun develop over a number of years now with our time together at the Cairns Taipans and I couldn’t be happier having Shaun lead the Meteors around the floor this season.  Shaun has had one year with the group and formed combinations which will only get stronger again this year and it will be great to team up with him again in our push to bring a title back to Mackay,”   Tragardh said.
