South West Metro Pirates Women’s Coaching Staff
Coach Name: Jason Chainey
Coaching Position: (e.g. Head Coach, Assistant Coach) Head Coach
I have coached for the past 20 years across all different levels. I have spent 3 years as a head coach in the WNBL, 5 years as an assistant in the WNBL (Where I currently am the assistant coach for the Adelaide Lightning) and a number of years on the floor working with the Phoenix Mercury helping with their pre season preparation in the WNBA.
Additionally, I have coached in the QBL as a head coach for over 10 years, been a head coach of state teams, junior teams and a network coach for the Queensland academy of sport
What do you hope to get out of the 2018 QBL season?
We have a few objectives for 2018, firstly and foremost everything we are doing is about winning enough games to give us a shot at the Championship. We have a great level of experience, toughness and ability this year to put us in a position to win games, we just need to ensure we work hard enough across all facets of the game to do it. Secondly and very importantly, we are working tirelessly to build the women’s program at South West into one that people love to be involved with and others want to be a part of. I think we have made strides in this area however it is something that will continue to take a lot of work.. However in saying that I am fortunate to have people around the team that are all great hard working people who work hard to make this happen.
